for Independent Baptist Churches
The curriculum for Vacation Bible Schools has drastically changed throughout the years, and it was our hearts’ desire to not only get back to the basics, but also return and refocus on reaching children with the Gospel.
Pastor Jon & Mrs. Jodi Keeling of Antioch Baptist Church in Wynne, AR contacted Delight Thyself Design Ministries in early 2020 about collaborating with them in creating a road trip themed VBS program for their church. After much prayer and many phonecalls, Roman’s Road Trip was born.
Antioch hosted the first Roman’s Road Trip in July of 2020 amidst the pandemic while most churches had their doors closed. The Lord truly blessed their faithfulness, as they saw a record attendance on Sunday morning during the closing program, and several families join the church as a result.
Most importantly, 11 souls trusted Christ as their Saviour during the weekend, including the 24 year old man who played Roman in the skits.
Because of how the Lord blessed, Antioch graciously allowed us to expand the material and make it available to other churches willing to use it in their communities. Since then, we know of many Roman’s Road Trips that have been taken place, a few internationally by mission trip teams, and heard of dozens of children have trusted Christ.
In 2021, the Keeling’s continued Roman’s story in their next VBS with developing Roman’s Surrender To Service. Churches that had used the Roman’s Road Trip program came back and asked if any other VBS themes were available, and the Keeling’s graciously offered for us to package their theme so that more children could hear how they could surrender their lives to the Lord just like Roman.
We give the Lord all the glory for how He has used these programs, and are praying that He would also bless your efforts as you prepare to teach these Biblical principles to children in your town.
